Canik TP9-SA

The Canik-TP9SA is a Turkish born pistol that has been imported to the US through Century Arms. It aims to provide a reliable firearm comparable to Sig Sauer, Glock, Beretta, and more for a fraction of the price. 

Ergonomics:

Generally in the firearm world when you hear the word "budget" it makes you cringe. Your forced to ask yourself what the manufacturer has removed in spite of pricing. I closely scrutinized every last texture and crevice of the TP9SA. The truth is, I could not find a single aesthetic imperfection. The slide is firmly planted onto the lower receiver without the slightest of play, and the polymer used to construct the firearm is strong. Extremely strong, in fact it feels like the type of industrial plastic you'd find in 80's medical equipment. Even the polymer trigger was no exception, it too was sturdy.

Firepower:

The TP9SA comes chambered in the standard 9mm. You are also supplied with 2 18 round magazines made by Mec-Gar. The magazines are of very high quality and have produced zero feeding issues. The magazines interestingly enough can be fed and cycled into a Sig P226, just another footprint of Mec-Gar based magazines. 

Accuracy:

Canik has done am amazing job at making this pistol easy to shoot accurately. Let's start with the trigger. The trigger is simply amazing, it has about a 4.5lb trigger weight and less than half of an inch reset with a very audible click. There is barely any take-up in the trigger which makes the break very predictable. I hate to say it, but I cannot be bias in a review, The TP9SA has one of the best triggers I have ever felt. Better than my Glock and my M&P.  Next is the recoil spring, it is an all metal recoil spring that adds a bit more weight to the front of the pistol, but in exchange for less muzzle flip. I was able to return the muzzle back on target in a jiffy. Lastly is the sites, the front site post is unfortunately pinned in so you cannot adjust it, my specific unit had a tendency to print an inch below where the front site post was pointed. Once I found this out I was able to print 2 and a half inch groups at 30 yards very impressive for a pistol in this price range.

Reliability:

Currently this Canik TP9SA is the only 9mm pistol that I own. With that being said its no secret that 9mm is the cheapest to shoot, especially since liberals have their hand in the cookie jar and are constantly trying to make it hard to obtain ammunition at a decent price. Fortunately I have been able to run 2200 rounds through the pistol over the course of 3 months. And we are not just talking about brass ammo, I mixed it up with the dirtiest ammo I could find while still performing basic cleaning. minimal lube and no solvent, just the brush that came with the firearm itself. I wanted to push the firearm to the limit. Ladies and gentlemen I admit defeat, I pressed that trigger 2200 times, and each of those times an explosion occurred and sent lead down range. Zero issues under basic maintenance. While I still would prefer my Glock simply because of its proven track record, I definitely would have to say that if your budget is tight, and you need defense, the Canik is an unbeatable option for the price.
